Equity

At the Graduate Student Association (GSA), equity means actively working to build an inclusive, just, and empowering environment where all graduate students—regardless of race, gender, sexuality, disability, socioeconomic background, or citizenship status—can thrive. We recognize the systemic barriers that affect underrepresented and marginalized communities, and we are committed to addressing them through both advocacy and action. Under our equity portfolio, we organize diverse and engaging programming, including cultural celebrations, book clubs, workshops, and community-building events that center and uplift marginalized voices. We provide scholarships to support students from underrepresented groups, and we are dedicated to meaningful engagement with Indigenous students and communities. We also collaborate with campus partners on equity-focused initiatives to promote structural change. Through these efforts, we strive to ensure that every graduate student feels respected, valued, and supported throughout their academic journey.
